Position Summary
A Research Support Specialist position is available in the laboratory of Dr. William K.M. Lai, in the Department of Biochemistry at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences for a scientist who wants to run a laboratory as well as work in one. The role pairs hands-on research with day-to-day management of a genomics lab studying the organization of chromatin and the protein-DNA interactions that control gene expression. The research pairs high-resolution genomic assays (e.g., ChIP-exo, MNase-seq, and ATAC-seq) with computational method development for interpreting the resulting data at scale, using various model systems (i.e., Saccharomyces cerevisiae, human cell lines) and in vitro protein binding. The successful candidate will own the operational health of the lab and will train and mentor undergraduate and graduate researchers at the bench. The Lai lab provides a collegial environment and has trained a diverse group of people over the years. We welcome scientists from all backgrounds and we mentor trainees at all levels.
