The Assistant Director of the Genomics Core Facility must have familiarity with a with broad experience in genomic sequencing approaches. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Genomics Core Facility (GFC) Scientific Director as well as interact routinely with UNMC investigators, scientists, graduate students, industry representatives, service technicians, as well as other key academic and industry collaborators to assist researchers in all stages of projects, including initial consultation, design, development, and analysis of experiments. The Assistant Director coordinates the activities of core staff, manages databases and core website, participates in billing/budget operations, presents GCF project development and core progress in campus-wide seminars, assists in applications for external funding, and represents the GCF at specialized courses and conferences. Responsible for day-to-day management of the Core. Leads long-term projects. Creates new processes and procedures to address complex scientific problems.

Molecular Biology and/or Genomics relevant field.

Required Experience 5 years If any experience is required, please specify what kind of experience:
Experience with molecular biology, genomics, and/or Next Generation Sequencing to include experience with sample and library preparation, protocol optimization, instrument usage and maintenance, and sample quality control.

Knowledge of basic lab skills and procedures.
Preferred Education: Master's degree or equivalent If any degree/training is preferred, please specify the type:
Training in molecular biology, genomics, and Next Generation Sequencing.
Preferred Experience:
Molecular biology and/or next generation sequencing, with working knowledge of genetic variant detection, transcriptomics, and epigenomics on Illumina platforms, the use of Nanostring technology, and single-cell 'omics, Management of shared resources and with a proven ability to implement goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. as well as supervision of staff and/or students and overall laboratory management.
