Overview

Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Engineering Support Specialist to join our team in support of the 100th Civil Engineer Squadron at Royal Air Force (RAF) Mildenhall, United Kingdom. This is an exceptional opportunity to work alongside a multidisciplinary team of engineering, construction, and facilities professionals delivering critical infrastructure projects that directly support U.S. Air Force mission readiness.

In this role, you will provide comprehensive engineering support for Military Construction (MILCON) and Facilities Sustainment, Restoration, and Modernization (FSRM) programs. Responsibilities include conducting multidisciplinary design reviews, supporting project controls through cost estimating and schedule analysis, developing technical documentation, and performing Title II construction observations to ensure projects are executed in accordance with approved designs, quality standards, budget, schedule, and applicable U.S. Air Force and host-nation requirements.

Key Responsibilities

The Engineering Support Specialist will:

  • Perform multidisciplinary technical reviews of civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, architectural, and related engineering designs to ensure compliance with project requirements, engineering standards, and applicable regulations
  • Identify design conflicts, constructability issues, system integration gaps, regulatory concerns, and potential cost or schedule risks, and develop technical recommendations for Government review and resolution
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze integrated master schedules, resource-loaded project schedules, milestone trackers, and schedule risk assessments using Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar scheduling tools
  • Support project controls by developing Independent Government Cost Estimates (IGCEs), cash flow projections, spend plans, burn-rate analyses, and other cost and schedule management products
  • Prepare technical specifications, Statements of Work (SOWs), design review comments, technical memorandums, executive briefings, and project status reports
  • Review contractor Requests for Information (RFIs), technical submittals, engineering drawings, specifications, and design calculations, coordinating technical findings with Government engineers and subject matter experts
  • Conduct construction observations, facility surveys, and condition assessments to validate design intent, monitor construction progress, and support quality assurance efforts
  • Maintain project schedules, financial records, deliverable trackers, technical documentation, and project files throughout the project life cycle, including project closeout
  • Coordinate with Government engineers, architects, planners, contracting personnel, contractors, and host-nation stakeholders to facilitate successful project execution
  • Provide technical support throughout planning, design, construction, and closeout to ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements
Requirements

Skills and Experience

The Engineering Support Specialist must have:

  • 7+ years of professional experience supporting construction, engineering, project controls, design management, or Military Construction (MILCON) projects
  • Demonstrated experience conducting technical site observations, construction inspections, quality assurance activities, and technical evaluations
  • Experience performing multidisciplinary engineering design reviews, including analysis of engineering drawings, specifications, technical submittals, and design calculations
  • Knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD), U.S. Air Force (USAF), Military Construction (MILCON), and Facilities Sustainment, Restoration, and Modernization (FSRM) programs and processes
  • Working knowledge of civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and architectural engineering principles, construction practices, and applicable industry standards
  • Experience developing and maintaining project schedules using Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or comparable scheduling software
  • Experience supporting project controls, including cost estimating, project scheduling, financial tracking, cash flow analysis, or facility programming
  • Familiarity with United Kingdom building regulations, construction standards, and host-nation requirements is highly desirable
  • Ability to work full-time on-site at Royal Air Force (RAF) Mildenhall, United Kingdom
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all required installation access, security vetting, Common Access Card (CAC), NIPRNet access, and other required site credentials

Education and Certifications

The Engineering Support Specialist must meet the following:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field
  • A valid CSCS card or equivalent is required at start of site work or must be obtained within the first 30 days on site
  • Certified Construction Manager, Project Management Professional, PRINCE2, or a relevant UK-equivalent credential

Security Clearance

Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner, and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary.
