Job Description
The Technician Helper (Weekend Shift) supports the installation of low-voltage cabling systems on commercial and industrial job sites. This entry-level role focuses on pulling and running cable, assisting with installations, and performing general labor tasks in a physically demanding environment. The position is ideal for someone motivated, reliable, and eager to learn a trade in low-voltage systems while working primarily on weekends, with optional additional days for more hours.
Responsibilities
- Pull cable and run cable through ceiling tiles and other pathways according to project requirements.
- Assist with the installation of low-voltage cabling systems, including data, fire alarm, and other low-voltage applications.
- Lift, carry, and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs throughout the workday.
- Organize, stage, and move materials on the job site to support efficient workflow.
- Use basic hand tools safely and effectively to support cabling and installation tasks.
- Support termination, testing, and verification of data cables and low-voltage wiring under direction.
- Perform general labor tasks on commercial construction and industrial job sites as needed.
- Work in a dirty and physically demanding environment, particularly at industrial facilities.
- Follow all safety guidelines, including working only with non-live (de-energized) wiring as directed.
- Read and reference spreadsheets or basic documentation to understand tasks, material lists, or project details.
- Report to the office on the first day and then travel directly to assigned job sites thereafter.
- Remain flexible and available to work required weekend overtime hours and additional days when needed.
- Commute to job sites within approximately 50 miles of the greater Nashville area, including locations such as Nashville, Smyrna, Murfreesboro, Franklin, and Madison.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of experience using hand tools in a work setting.
- At least 1 year of construction or wiring experience, such as cable pulling, manufacturing, or machine operation.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
- Basic experience with general labor tasks in construction, industrial, or similar environments.
- Comfort working with low-voltage cabling, including pulling wire and data cable.
- Willingness and ability to work mandatory weekend shifts with overtime.
- Reliability in commuting to multiple job sites across the greater Nashville area.
- Ability to read and work from spreadsheets or basic project documentation.
- Strong motivation and eagerness to learn and follow instructions on a job site.
- Openness to working in dirty, industrial, and construction environments.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Smyrna, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr.
