POSS Separators, founded in 1978 and based in Oakville, Ontario, is a global leader in mechanical separation technology for protein processing. Known for its high-yield, low-temperature systems like the ProMax Series, POSS serves meat, poultry, seafood, and pet food industries.

POSS is a Duravant Company, headquartered in Downers Grove, IL.   Duravant is a global engineered equipment company with manufacturing, sales and service facilities throughout North America, Europe and Asia.

This position description identifies the major responsibilities of this job. It does not include all aspects of the position such as the potential additional duties assigned by supervisors and the requirement for flexibility in helping others for the company's overall benefit.

We are currently looking for a CNC Set-up/Operator Machinist to join our dynamic team in Oakville, ON.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The CNC Machinist sets up, runs, and monitors computer-controlled machines (mills, lathes, routers) to produce precision parts from raw materials. They interpret blueprints/CAD files, load materials, calibrate equipment, and inspect finished products for quality assurance while conducting routine maintenance.

This role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented professional who enjoys variety, works well independently, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing or operations-driven environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Read and interpret blueprints and drawings
  • Select proper tools and fixtures required as well as the ability to perform tool wear offset
  • Properly and safely load and unload tools and raw materials in CNC machinery
  • Knowledge of proper feeds and speeds
  • Verify dimensions of parts using precision measuring instruments
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices to load and unload parts
  • Recognize, deploy and properly use inserts, fixtures and tooling
  • Perform daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on CNC machinery
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 5 years of machining experience required
  • Minimum 2 years of CNC machining experience required
  • Manual machining experience is a plus
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints is required
  • Experience with CNC programming and operation
  • Knowledge of measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers
  • Strong mathematical skills for calculations and measurements

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Able to stand, walk, bend, twist and reach with arms and hands. Good visual acuity to see computer screens and read fine print on a variety of reports.
