Job description

Monday - Friday 5am - 3:30pm 
Plasma Operator sets up, programs, and operates CNC plasma cutting machines to cut metal, steel plates, and structural components based on blueprints and technical specifications. They ensure precision cutting, monitor machine performance, perform routine maintenance, and verify parts using measuring instruments like micrometers
.
Key Responsibilities
  • Machine Setup & Operation: Loading raw materials and programming CNC machines to cut, drill, and grind materials into specified shapes.
  • Reading Blueprints/Drawings: Interpreting CAD drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications to set up the plasma cutting process.
  • Quality Assurance: Inspecting finished parts using precision measurement tools (micrometers, verniers) to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Maintenance: Performing daily checks, maintaining coolant/oil levels, and cleaning the machine and work area.
  • Safety Adherence: Following all safety protocols, including wearing protective gear, handling material with overhead cranes, and maintaining a clean work environment.
  • Troubleshooting: Adjusting machine settings, cutting parameters, and troubleshooting to fix operational issues.
  • Qualifications & Skills
    • Experience: Proven experience as a CNC operator or similar role, preferably in a metal fabrication environment.
    • Technical Skills: Proficiency with AutoCAD/CAM software and ability to read blueprints.
    • Measurement Tools: Proficient in using micrometers, calipers, and other measurement devices.
    • Mechanical Aptitude: Strong understanding of machine tools and metal properties.
    • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods and safely handle heavy materials (sometimes lifting up to 50 lbs).
    • Education: High school diploma or equivalent, with technical training in welding/fabrication preferred.
