Description
NYU Long Island's Department of Psychiatry seeks a Psychologist to join our growing team as we expand our Outpatient Behavioral Health Service in Mineola.
Our group includes Psychiatrists, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Social Workers, and a Psychologist, providing both in-person and telehealth services to patients of all ages. We're looking for our next great addition - a versatile Psychologist who is deeply committed to providing exceptional clinical care.
The ideal candidate will have experience providing psychological support to adults, adolescents, and children, working collaboratively with other healthcare providers to ensure effective whole-person care.
Role/Responsibilities:
  • Functions as a primary therapist and member of an interdisciplinary team; provides patient care, individual or group, in accordance with accepted principles of psychotherapy
  • Performs formal and informal psychological/assessment methods appropriate for age, medical condition and functional status, makes recommendations, develops treatment plans, and evaluates care provided for positive patient outcomes
  • Collaborates with other Providers for coordinated care in the best interest of the patient
  • Documents patient interventions according to department and hospital policies and procedures
  • Participates in care team meetings and adds to case discussions
  • Contributes to the expansion of behavioral health services in the community
  • Works closely with Departmental leaders to ensure efficacy and effectiveness of services
  • Completes a variety of administrative tasks, including but not limited to correspondence, attending meetings, and maintaining records and chart

Required Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree from an APA-accredited program in clinical or counseling psychology
  • Licensed Psychologist in New York State
  • Exceptional clinical skills and professionalism

• Strong clinical writing and documentation skills, and the ability to complete accurate and timely notes and paperwork
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, flexibility, emotional intelligence, and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of health care professionals
  • Comfortable with telehealth platforms and hybrid care models
  • Demonstrated experience in working with complex comorbid presentations including mood, anxiety, personality, and other psychiatric disorders
  • Familiarity with diverse populations and culturally competent care

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of clinical experience desirable
  • Experience treating children, couples, and/or families
  • Experience teaching/training Psychology and/or Medical Trainees
  • Experience or interest in clinical research is a plus
