Job description

The Manufacturing Engineer develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods. Utilizes knowledge of product design, materials, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.  


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set-up machines according to specifications, applying knowledge of manufacturing methods.
  • Review and understand blueprints and job order for product specifications, such as dimensions and tolerances, tooling instructions and determines sequence of operations.
  • Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of machined work piece to specifications, using measuring instruments, such as gages, calipers, and micrometers
  • Troubleshoot problems associated with equipment, tooling, and processes and offer potential solutions to the problem.
  • Edit CNC programs as required to optimize processes based on established department procedures for process improvement.
  • Communicates manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes.
  • Support Control Plan (CP) development, including inspection methodology, prevention controls, detection controls, reaction plans, inspection frequency rationale, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Recommend tooling and fixturing solutions.
  • Complete essential documentation as required.
  • Train, assist, and support employees in producing quality parts and in completing all process requirements.
  • Assist engineering & other production areas as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Preferred    4 Year / Bachelors Degree    Engineering or related field.

Experience:

  • 5+ years in a manufacturing environment

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to determine and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Analytical thinking skills.
  • Strong problem solving, decision making, and process improvement skills.
  • Proficient blue print reading and GD&T knowledge.

Work Environment:

  • Work performed in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually low.
  • May be exposed to production floor environment. The noise level on the production floor can be loud.
