Job description

At Superior Trailer, this position offers competitive compensation, including bonus opportunities, as well as benefits such as health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.

Job Summary:

The Service Technician is responsible for providing specialty repair work and maintenance for trailers and other related products. Performs simple repairs to complex welding applications, including welding, repacks, redecks, and general maintenance.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform service, repair, and accessory installation on new and used trailers and trailer tow vehicles safely, accurately and efficiently.
  • Partner with supervisor to maintain Service Schedule.
  • Examine, test, adjust, and repair bearings, lights, wiring, and brake assemblies of trailers repack.
  • Capable of constant bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting weight up to 70 pounds. Capable of recognizing team lifting opportunities.
  • Perform multi-point inspections to assess customer service and parts needs.
  • Ability to use or learn the proper use of fabrication equipment such as plasma cutter, cutting torch, and other welding fabrication.
  • Clean and quality check all welds, set-up/run structural welds, know how to run all welding equipment.
  • Ability to learn or help facilitate the team in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and solving welding problems.
  • Help customers hook up a trailer. Perform visual safety inspection (lights, safety chain, decking, etc.)
  • Perform warranty service.
  • Complete service paperwork or computer system entry completely and timely.
  • Assemble trailers.
  • Park and move Trailers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proven Ability to weld
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to Operate a Forklift
  • Reliable Transportation

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Min. 2 years applicable work experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Lifting, standing, bending, or reaching, is required
  • Must be able to lift up to seventy (70) pounds at times.
