Job description

Iteris is seeking an Associate Engineer to join a talented group of professionals to promote thriving communities by applying technology to solve complex transportation challenges. You will work, in partnership with Iteris Engineering staff, with state, regional, and local agencies to deliver various transportation planning and engineering projects to improve our communities. This opportunity is available in Southern California geography of our Pacific Region and requires the applicant to work on-site in the Santa Ana office.

What you will be doing:

  • Conduct transportation, traffic, and systems engineering tasks, including the development and optimization of traffic signal timing, signal system management, and advanced traffic operations
  • Perform field monitoring and investigations to assess traffic signal operations and system performance, ensuring optimal functionality and identifying areas for improvement, under the guidance of senior engineering staff
  • Provide technical supports on Intelligent Transportation Systems planning and design, including the preparation of design plans, specifications, and systems engineering analyses
  • Support the preparation of technical reports and PS&E packages ensuring alignment with project goals under the guidance of senior engineering staff
  • Participate in fieldwork, such as traffic data collection and system evaluations, as required for project development and implementation
  • Local travel will be required for project-related tasks and client meetings

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor's Degree (four year college or technical school) Required, Field of Study: Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 2-6 years of experience in transportation engineering, transportation planning, or related field
  • Familiar with tools such as Synchro, SimTraffic, VISSIM, GIS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.
  • Engineers in Training (EIT) preferred

Iteris anticipates paying a base salary between $82,000 and $95,000 for this role. Actual pay offered may be below or above these amounts, depending on the individual's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
