What You Will Contribute to OHM Advisors
As part of our dynamic team, you will perform traffic engineering tasks for a wide range of projects varying in size and scope. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of planners, engineers, and technicians to develop innovative transportation solutions. Projects will include traffic impact studies, operational analyses, signal design, signing, pavement marking, maintenance of traffic, and preparation of design and construction documents.
Your Responsibilities
  • Conduct traffic impact studies, operational analyses, and corridor studies to support transportation planning and design.
  • Design traffic control devices, including signals, signs, pavement markings, and temporary traffic control plans.
  • Utilize traffic engineering software such as Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, VISSIM, SIDRA, TransModeler, and AutoTurn to analyze traffic flow and develop solutions.
  • Prepare reports, technical memoranda, and presentations for clients, stakeholders, and public meetings.
  • Perform field assessments to collect data, evaluate traffic conditions, and support project recommendations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and public agencies, including TDOT and local municipalities, to ensure project success.
  • Utilize OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, and AutoCAD for design and drafting tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, including MUTCD, AASHTO, NACTO, and TDOT guidelines.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables while maintaining clear communication with team members and clients.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Tennessee.
  • Minimum five years of experience in traffic engineering.
  • Experience working with TDOT and other Tennessee agencies is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for report writing, presentations, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools, enhancing the ability to present findings and recommendations clearly.
  • PTOE (Professional Traffic Operations Engineer) certification is a plus.
