Overview
Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our Traffic Engineering team in Lansing, Southfield, or Grand Rapids, MI!

We are seeking a motivated Traffic Engineer to join our team and contribute to the planning, design, and operation of safe and efficient transportation systems. In this role, you will analyze traffic data, develop signal timing plans, conduct roadway and intersection studies, and support the design of traffic control devices and infrastructure improvements. Responsibilities
  • Apply engineering fundamentals for technical support of project design teams.
  • Develop drawings by modifying or replicating prior projects.
  • Create drawings from sketches.
  • Ensure designs are in accordance with company and client production and design standards.
  • Perform engineering calculations and create estimates.
  • Research and apply code provisions to design.
  • Perform QA/QC by verifying design methodology, calculations, outcomes, etc.
  • Prepare or review scopes of work and budgets, and schedule assignments.
  • Prepare proposals to provide professional services.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering is required.
  • 5+ years of traffic design experience highly preferred.
  • PE license is required; PTOE is a plus.
  • Prior experience with MDOT preferred.
  • Proficient in MicroStation and AutoCAD with a working knowledge of Synchro, VISSIM, Open Roads, HSM and HCS.
  • Previous experience mentoring junior level staff is a plus.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for the purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
