Job Summary
Langan is seeking a Traffic/Transportation Practice Leader to join its collaborative, multidisciplinary California team. This individual will serve a key leadership function in growing Langan's Traffic/Transportation Practice in California dedicated to serving private sector developers, corporations, public entities, and institutional clients on their real estate development projects.In this role, you will have the opportunity to leverage Langan's national Traffic/Transportation leadership team and established practice paired with our rapidly growing multi-disciplinary California team to fuel the growth of the California Traffic/Transportation group.
Job Responsibilities
  • Work closely with firm's Traffic/Transportation and California leadership to develop and execute growth plans;
  • Lead staffing and hiring initiatives for California, ensuring strong organizational strategy utilization;
  • Participate in the identification and pursuit of new clients, develop additional work within an existing project and attend business development meetings with new and existing clients;
  • Understanding of the CEQA and CALTRAN processes as well as city and state pre-qualification processes.
  • Provide direct oversight and management of junior staff for specific project assignments. Coach, train, and motivate Traffic/Transportation staff;
  • Lead Traffic/Transportation efforts on a variety of project including the ability to prepare Traffic Impact Analysis, state roadway and driveway permitting, etc.;
  • Manage and deliver on multiple projects and tasks within specific budgets, schedules, and deadlines. Prepare progress reports and draft change orders. Prepare draft invoices, project billings, and assist in payment collections;
  • Coordinate and work with staff to determine the feasibility of projects based on the analysis of preliminary data, and prepare and modify reports, specifications, plans, and design for projects;
  • Effectively organize, write and edit draft proposals, reports and other documents;
  • Interface effectively, and professionally with clients, contractors, subcontractors, staff, project personnel, supervisors and other office locations/disciplines; and
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Master's degree in Traffic/Transportation a plus;
  • Professional Engineering license;
  • 15+ years of Traffic Engineering/Transportation Planning experience in traffic/transportation engineering, traffic impact studies, traffic signal warrants, parking studies, driveway design, and traffic signal design;
  • Familiarity with state permitting and DOT guidelines and protocols for traffic impact analysis and highway design;
  • Existing relationships with CEQA practitioners and local land use attorneys a plus;
  • Understanding of various city and state pre-qualification processes;
  • Effective public speaking skills; public testimony experience desirable;
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple clients and projects, and to develop and manage project budgets;
  • Knowledge of Synchro, ITE Trip Generation, HCM;
  • Knowledge of Vissim, AutoCAD, MicroStation are a plus;
  • Ability to coach and assist with the management of staff;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities;
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment; and
  • Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver's license in good standing; Ability to occasionally travel and participate in field work.

Certain US jurisdictions require Langan to include an estimate of salary or hourly ranges. The estimated range for this role is: $112,500 - $171,000. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. Certain roles may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm. Employees are also eligible to receive up to 20 days of paid vacation time, 10 days of paid sick time and 10 paid holidays throughout the year. Eligibility and actual paid time off may vary based on local law and factors such as hours worked, related work experience and level.
