What are Traffic Control TMA Drivers?

Traffic Control TMA (Truck Mounted Attenuator) Drivers are professionals responsible for operating vehicles equipped with crash attenuators to protect road workers and motorists in construction or maintenance zones. Their primary role is to position and drive these specialized trucks to absorb impact in the event of a collision, minimizing injury and damage. TMA Drivers must be vigilant, follow safety procedures, and often work in challenging weather and traffic conditions. They also assist with setting up traffic control devices and may need to coordinate closely with other crew members to ensure a safe work environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Traffic Control TMA Driver, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Traffic Control TMA (Truck Mounted Attenuator) Driver, you need a valid commercial driver’s license (often CDL Class B or higher), good driving record, and knowledge of traffic safety regulations.
