The Traffic Control / Flagger is responsible for safely directing and controlling vehicular and pedestrian traffic through construction and maintenance work zones while ensuring the safety of the traveling public, coworkers, and equipment operators. This position supports project operations by installing, maintaining, and removing traffic control devices in accordance with approved traffic control plans, standards, and company safety policies. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, professionalism, teamwork, and customer service while working in varying weather conditions throughout Alaska.
Qualifications
Required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Current ATSSA Flagger Certification or ability to obtain certification before assignment.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in changing traffic conditions.
  • Ability to work safely around moving traffic, heavy equipment, and construction operations.
  • Reliable transportation to and from assigned work locations.

Preferred
  • Experience in roadway construction, utility construction, or traffic control operations.
  • Knowledge of travel control requirements and temporary traffic control procedures.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Certification.
  • MSHA Certification.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
