  • Monday – Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Potential Overtime on Fridays)
  • Temporary, Full Time, 40 hours per week (Up to 6 Month Assignment as Needed)

What you’ll be doing
This position supports city operations by designing, coordinating, planning, and advising on traffic control plans for construction projects, road closures, and special events. This role plays a critical part in maintaining public safety, minimizing traffic disruptions, and ensuring compliance with traffic engineering standards.
You will be responsible for…
  • Design, review, and coordinate traffic control plans for construction, road closures, and special events.
  • Ensure plans meet traffic engineering standards, safety regulations, and city requirements.
  • Coordinate detours, closures, signals, and traffic impacts with city departments and outside agencies.
  • Support event coordinators with traffic planning for public and private events.
  • Respond to questions and concerns from the public, contractors, developers, and internal teams.
  • Monitor and respond to emergency traffic situations, including weather events, outages, and road closures.
  • Maintain documentation for customer contacts, inspections, and traffic control plans.
  • Provide guidance on traffic control devices, barricades, and safety procedures.
What skills & experience you’ll bring to us
  • Experience in traffic control, transportation operations, public works, construction coordination, or a related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of traffic control plans, roadway safety standards, detours, and traffic engineering principles.
  • Ability to design, review, and coordinate traffic control plans for projects and events.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with the public, contractors, city departments, and outside agencies.
  • Ability to respond calmly and effectively during emergency traffic situations.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and multitasking skills.
  • Proficient with computers, reports, and recordkeeping systems.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage multiple priorities.
