The Difference You Make:
Corporate Investment Banking (CIB) Market Risk is responsible for defining and establishing a Market Risk management framework for the Bank by coordinating the efforts of the Market Risk team. S/he ensures the accurate identification, calculation, analysis and reporting of market- and liquidity-risk metrics in order to support the decision-making process of senior management. The role also entails the definition and improvement of market risk policies and governance and ensures compliance of business lines of the Bank to said polices, consistent with regulatory guidance and expectations. The responsibilities of the "CIB Head of Market Risk for Securitized Products Trading" (reporting to the US Head of CIB Market Risk/CRO of Santander Capital) include:

  • Market Risk Management for all securitized products trading in the US. Products include secondary trading of agency RMBS (passthroughs, CMOs), agency CMBS, non-agency products (ABS, RMBS, CMBS, CLOs) as well as whole loan trading and securitization.
  • Market Risk lead for the new CMBS conduit business.
  • Limit management including coordination of policy & procedure review as well as products onboarding.
  • Management of the risk infrastructure and systems supporting the securitized products.
  • Management of relationships with US and European regulators
  • Management of large (regulatory) projects (e.g., FRTB)
  • Implementation of AI tools.
  • Additional responsibilities depending on the candidate's experience and skill set.

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience: Business, Finance, Management, or equivalent field. - Required. Graduate degree in a quantitative field preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of products and trading strategies across agency and non-agency securitized products
  • Strong knowledge of prepayment and valuation methodologies for securitized products.
  • Ability to advise trading desks on risk taking/mitigation and (regulatory) capital usage
  • Strong cross-functional expertise (e.g., market risk, finance, model risk management, technology)
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory standards and experience with market risk methodologies (e.g., VaR, ES, CCAR, stress testing)
  • Solid quantitative skills (e.g., statistics, probability theory, derivatives valuation) and basic programming skills (e.g., Python).
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills including the ability to tailor a message to the relevant audience (e.g., trading desk, senior management, regulators, quantitative developers)
  • Experience in managing teams and proven people management skills
  • Ability to independently operate in a complex, matrixed environment; adept at delivering and maintaining productive working relationships across business, functions, geographies and lines of defense.

The base pay range for this position is posted below and represents the annualized salary range. For hourly positions (non-exempt), the annual range is based on a 40-hour work week. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.
