What is the opportunity?

The incumbent is responsible to accurately authorize rates daily into the trading system for rate fixing and settlement purposes, and to confirm rates related to Derivatives transactions supported by FIDO - Interest Rate Swaps, Options and FRA trades, and Structured deals. Develop and maintain a good understanding of 2006 ISDA Definitions, terms and definitions, as they relate to transactions supported by the Fixed Income Derivative Operations Team.
What will you do?

  • Perform functions for daily Rate Resets activity, accurately and on a timely basis for rate fixing and settlement purposes. Verbal / or email confirm trades that are rate set in arrears with counterparties for proper settlement.
  • Have sound and good knowledge and understanding of all rate indices, their conventions, their published times and rate sources which are used by FID. This ensures efficient and accurate resolution to discrepancies with counterparties.
  • Reasonably ensure all required rate pages for rate calc input are all updated on respective Reuters' Market data sheets, taking into account their published time to minimize error in obtaining rates too early.
  • Ensure that items in the Toronto Workflow "Rate Reset Repair" basket are reviewed and sent to the "Supervisor Rate Reset Review" basket daily for approval
  • Assist external counterparties or internal Operations Personnel with rate investigations and/or discrepancies where applicable.
  • Liaise with Marketers, Traders, Documentation Officers' and Analysts to ensure that proper trade details are maintained for rate reset purpose as agreed with clients.
  • Developing appropriate project management procedures and tools for all major activities; assisting members of the organization in the use of project management methods and tools.
  • Determining needs and suggesting solutions for administrative improvements in procedures, processes or systems to support other functions.
  • Identifying needs and suggesting solutions for customization or alterations of technical tools to support unusual or new business requirements.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have's

  • Minimum 1 year experience within Operations with exposure to Credit and Fixed Rate Derivatives.
  • Excel/VBA literate
  • Post-Secondary or equivalent

Nice to Have's

  • Good working knowledge of Fixed Income Derivatives trades and processing procedures.
  • Ability to manage stress and work accurately in a demanding environment.
  • Good working knowledge of various Systems: Infinity, Workflow, Murex
  • Good working knowledge of various PC applications: Microsoft, Word
  • Good interpersonal/communication skills in dealing with other officers & traders.
  • Ability to grasp new concepts quickly
  • Good knowledge of Structured, Credit and Fixed Income Derivative products market standards and best practice including settlements
  • A sound knowledge of Infinity, Murex, RIMMS. IRIS, Workflow
  • Adhere to RBC's Standing Orders
