The Trading Operations group at Voleon sits at the crossroads of finance and applied science, collaborating with research and other production staff to supervise and improve systematic trading strategies. The team ensures that the outputs of our research efforts are successfully implemented in the real world. Domains of contribution include algorithmic execution, securities lending, and market expertise across a variety of asset classes and markets.
As an Associate Member of Trading Staff, you will rotate across our credit, equity, forex, and derivatives desks to learn each asset class and region we trade, and eventually assume ownership of our systematic trading programs. You will directly interact with both internal stakeholders and the broker dealer community. The collaboration and rotation amongst the team will enable you to become an expert in market microstructure and trading operations. Under mentorship from senior traders, you will build analytics and automation that enhance the level of sophistication and scale at which the firmwide trading program operates.
This role requires working US and Asian market hours from our Berkeley office location.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor high-volume execution algorithms and portfolio risk
  • Track real-time market developments
  • Interface with external brokers and trading counterparties
  • Contribute to the codebase underlying automated trading operations
  • Build processes and technology to prevent errors or outages while increasing team capacity
  • Provide insight and expertise to the research and development staff
  • Work global market hours for a portion of every year on a rotational basis
