Job description

Your Opportunity

The Associate Fixed Income Trader will support the execution of fixed income securities and related instruments across mutual funds, ETFs, separately managed accounts, and other investment strategies. This role will work closely with senior traders, portfolio managers, credit research, investment risk, operations, compliance, and technology partners to help achieve best execution, strengthen trading workflows, and contribute to scalable investment processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the execution of fixed income trades across multiple asset classes, including U.S. Treasuries, agencies, municipal bonds, corporate bonds, securitized products, and related derivatives.
  • Use pre-trade analytics, market data, electronic trading platforms, and internal tools to support trade strategy and execution decisions.
  • Seek to obtain best execution by evaluating price, liquidity, market impact, counterparty responsiveness, execution venue, and operational considerations.
  • Monitor market conditions, dealer inventories, new issue activity, and relative value opportunities to support portfolio implementation.
  • Partner with portfolio managers and senior traders to understand order objectives, urgency, portfolio constraints, and execution preferences.
  • Support post-trade transaction cost analysis and use results to help improve future trading outcomes.
  • Help maintain strong relationships with approved broker-dealers, trading venues, and other market participants.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives, including trading workflow design, automation, data analysis, and technology enhancements.
  • Assist with governance, reporting, trade documentation, and materials related to trading oversight, best execution, risk management, and compliance reviews.
  • Work with trade operations, compliance, business unit risk, and technology teams to resolve trade issues, operational events, and system or workflow questions.
What you have
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, mathematics, business, engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience
  • Two or more years of relevant experience in fixed income trading, portfolio management, trade support, investment operations, capital markets, or a related investment function.
  • Working knowledge of fixed income products, market structure, trade life cycle, and execution venues.
  • Familiarity with trading platforms, order management systems, analytics tools, or market data applications such as Aladdin, Bloomberg, Tradeweb, MarketAxess, InvestorTools Perform, or similar systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data, evaluate trade alternatives, and communicate findings clearly.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, professionalism, and a commitment to acting in clients’ best interests.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across trading, portfolio management, risk, compliance, operations, and technology teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience at a buy-side asset manager, sell-side trading desk, broker-dealer, investment adviser, or institutional trading platform.
  • Exposure to municipal bonds, corporates, securitized products, U.S. Treasuries, agencies, credit instruments, futures, ETFs, or separately managed account workflows.
  • Experience using data, automation, coding, or workflow tools to improve trading processes, reporting, or analytics.
  • Understanding of best execution, transaction cost analysis, trade allocation, fiduciary obligations, and relevant regulatory considerations.
  • CFA designation or progress toward CFA, MBA, or other relevant professional certification preferred.
