Job Description
The Marketing Manager - Alpine & Protective, North America is the strategic architect and business leader responsible for building, budgeting, and executing the regional marketing roadmap across the United States and Canada. Based at our North American headquarters in Ogden, UT, this role moves beyond grassroots activations. We are seeking a data-driven, commercially minded brand strategist who can couple deep winter sports market knowledge with rigorous financial literacy and business acumen.
Acting as the vital link between Salomon Global Brand HQ and the North American market, you will develop a regional marketing strategy spanning trade, media, sports marketing, and community. You will work in lockstep with the Category Manager (Product), Sales Directors, and field Sales Reps to ensure marketing initiatives directly drive commercial growth and retail success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Strategic Brand Architecture & Financial Ownership
  • Data-Driven Strategy Formulation: Build and own the comprehensive North American marketing strategy for the Alpine and Protective categories. Translate global directives into highly analytical, regionally optimized playbooks that maximize market share.
  • Budget Management: Maintain full fiscal accountability for the North American alpine marketing budget. Build ROI models, track variances, and utilize data to optimize spend distribution across campaigns, events, and assets.
  • Cross-Functional Synergy: Partner closely with the Category Manager to align product lifecycles with marketing initiatives and collaborate with Sales Directors and field Sales Reps to ensure marketing activations support commercial sell-in and sell-through.
  • Global-local Connection: Partner closely with the global Category Marketing Manager to ensure brand consistency and alignment.

2. Commercial & Trade Marketing Strategy
  • Strategic Joint Marketing Plans (JMPs): Architect premium, commercially sound Joint Marketing Plans for key retail accounts, ensuring activations deliver measurable business growth and represent the brand.
  • In-Store & Omnichannel Frameworks: Define the structural framework for premium North American visual merchandising, window campaigns, and retail training programs, directing your US and Canadian associates to execute them on the ground.

3. Team Leadership & Market Intelligence
  • People Management: Direct, mentor, and manage a team of two Associate Marketing Managers, establishing clear KPIs, accountability, and operational excellence.
  • Market Pulse & Insights: Maintain a constant, analytical grasp on the North American winter sports landscape, competitive shifts, and consumer behavior to continuously refine marketing strategies and feed business intelligence back to Global Brand HQ.

CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS & KEY STAKEHOLDERS
  • Internal Stakeholders: Category Manager, North American Sales Directors, Field Sales Reps, Global Brand Teams, D2C/E-comm Teams, Finance.
  • External Stakeholders: Retail Partners, Buying Groups, PR Agencies, Resort Partners.
  • Decision-Making Authority: Sign-off on the North American marketing budget allocation; final authority on regional strategy adaptation, local partnership selection, and commercial marketing spend.

Qualifications
Business Acumen & Analytics
  • Strategy & Data Mastery: Advanced data driven decision making and campaign performance tracking.
  • Financial Literacy: Strong understanding of marketing's impact on business financials, margins, inventory lifecycles, and retail sell-through metrics.

Experience & Leadership
  • Proven Experience: 5-7+ years of progressive marketing experience within the consumer goods, outdoor, or action sports industries, with a deep understanding of the North American specialty ski retail landscape.
  • People Leadership: Minimum 2+ years of direct management experience, with a track record of driving accountability across a distributed team.
  • Collaborative Mindset: Exceptional interpersonal skills required to seamlessly interface between high-level corporate directors, technical product managers, and field-based sales reps.

  • Market Pulse: Authentic, deep knowledge of the North American alpine ski and freeride industry, trends, and culture.
  • Location: Must be based out of, or willing to relocate to, the Ogden, Utah headquarters (this is an on-site office role).
