Job description

Job Title: Quality Traceability Technician (Piping / Field Support)

Location: Ingleside, TX

Job Summary

The Quality Traceability Technician is responsible for developing, maintaining, and updating piping test packages while ensuring accurate traceability of materials, welds, and system boundaries. This role requires a self-sufficient individual who can hit the ground running in a fast-paced construction environment, working closely with field personnel, QA/QC, and engineering teams to reflect real-time field conditions and meet aggressive project deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain daily communication with field teams to identify changes in piping boundaries and system configurations
  • Update and revise test packages in real time to reflect field changes, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Break down piping isometric drawings into test packages based on fluid code, test pressure, system area, material type, and piping specifications
  • Mark up isometric drawings using Bluebeam Revu in accordance with field direction and defined testing boundaries
  • Clearly define and maintain system boundaries for hydrostatic and pressure testing
  • Prepare, track, and manage complete test packages to support system turnover and project milestones
  • Support and coordinate hydrostatic and pressure testing activities to meet schedule demands
  • Track and organize welds, ensuring full traceability and accurate documentation
  • Maintain weld logs, inspection records, and all supporting quality documentation
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies between drawings, field conditions, and documentation with minimal supervision
  • Ensure all documentation is organized, current, and audit-ready at all times
  • Coordinate closely with QA/QC, engineering, and construction teams to maintain alignment
  • Support project turnover by ensuring all systems are fully documented, tested, and compliant

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required (Associate's degree or technical training preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in piping, construction, QA/QC, or traceability roles (industrial or oil & gas preferred)
  • Proven experience building and managing piping test packages independently
  • Strong understanding of piping isometrics, system boundaries, and testing requirements
  • Hands-on experience supporting hydrostatic or pressure testing
  • Knowledge of weld tracking and documentation practices
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and specifications
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Bluebeam Revu
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and document control systems
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in refinery, petrochemical, or industrial construction projects
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API)
  • Experience with turnover and completion systems (e.g., WinPCS, Setpoint, or similar)
  • Prior QA/QC or inspection support experience

  • Must be comfortable working in active industrial/construction settings
  • May require extended hours, overtime, or project-based schedules (e.g., 6–7 days/week, 10–12 hour shifts) depending on project phase
  • Must be able to walk job sites, climb stairs, and work in varying weather conditions
  • Required to follow all site safety policies and PPE requirements
