Job Description:

What will you work on?

In this role, the Director of Design is responsible for overseeing all aspects of design and development for our Games business. Managing a team of highly creative designers and partnering with cross-functional leads to support table top games, trading cards, puzzles, and more!

This role is located in our NYC location and is required 4 Days per week in office.
How will you create impact?

  • Leading the team of multi-disciplined designers in the creation and execution of Spin Master games business
  • Be key contributor in the creation 3-year new product strategy and review and refine as needed
  • Use key consumer insights to in the development of new products
  • Work with SM inventor relations team to evaluate toy submissions for inclusion in the GBU's various product lines.
  • Partner with Brand Director to sell product concepts both internally at executive internal line reviews and external customer previews
  • Communicate vision for each product assigned in visual, verbal and prototype forms
  • Monitor all new product developments to ensure key Product Development launch dates are achieved and that the team is delivering on all aspects of the development process
  • Partner with internal departments (Engineering, Quality Assurance, Marketing, Graphic Design, Sales, Planning, Copy Writing) to insure seamless development of each toy project.
  • Partner and collaborate with both internal and external design consultants and manage the development costs with all design team members to bring each product in within agreed project budgets
  • Managing the licensor product approval process
  • Ability to understand the essence of properties/brands to develop unique and dedicated consumer goods


What are your skills and experience?

  • Brand Design experience

  • Advanced knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, ESKO and Acrobat.

  • Heightened creative and technical abilities including conceptual drawing, and manual illustration a plus.

Please note that this position requires being in the office four days per week.

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in New York City is $160,000 to $180,000 per annum. The salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience within the job, years of experience within the required industry, education, etc. Spin Master Inc. is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work only in other states.
