Job Summary

The Assistant Manager will be responsible for assisting the General Manager in the oversight of gym operations to ensure an exceptional “Judgment Free” member experience and staff experience, as well as a financially successful club. The Assistant Manager is responsible for leading a team of employees in a positive, motivating manner with continuous assistance in employee training and development. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire, train and develop a high performing team consisting of Member Service Representatives, Trainers and Custodians.
  • Create and maintain a welcoming atmosphere for all members, prospective members and guests and ensure team members follow superior customer service guidelines.
  • Team Management
    • Schedule team members and ensure all shifts are covered.
    • Lead by example and maintain consistent accountability for direct reports by training and coaching, ensuring adherence to PF’s values and goals. o Resolve team member issues or concerns.
    • Discuss team member disciplinary measures with General Manager/Area Manager
  • Involved in all front desk related activities including:
    • Answer phones in a friendly manner and assist callers with a variety of questions.
    • Check members into the system.
    • New member sign-up.
    • Take prospective members on tours.
    • Facilitate all member requests, issues and questions.
  • Ensure prompt opening/closing of gym.
  • Oversee cleanliness and maintenance of facility including taking responsibility for largest section of cleaning daily.
    • Ensure safety of employees, members and club property.
    • Determine and communicate equipment repair in a timely manner.
  • Manage marketing efforts by ensuring the team is aware and trained on all marketing promotions.
  • Authorize expenditures and refunds. Make daily bank deposits.
  • Prepare HR related forms and send to Corporate Human Resources Team.
  • Track statistics and reports (weekly, monthly, annually).
  • Maintain backup support for any team member who is absent.

Qualifications/Requirements 

  • 1 year of supervisory experience
  • 2 years of customer service experience
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Upbeat and positive attitude!
  • Punctuality and dependability
  • Exceptional customer service skills; able to interact in a positive and professional way with members and co-workers, exceeding the member’s expectations.
  • Strong communication with both staff and customers
  • Demonstrate diplomacy in all interactions while using appropriate behavior and language.
  • High School diploma/GED equivalent preferred.
  • Continual standing and walking during shift.
  • Continual talking in person or on the phone during shift.
  • Ability to work 3rd shift (overnights) occasionally.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Will encounter toxic chemicals (cleaning, etc) during shift.
  • Physical demands require bending, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, and twisting, to accomplish tasks.
