Job Summary
Work Schedule:
  • Per Diem: 48 hours in a 6 week schedule; on call and holiday rotation
  • The sonographer performs Ultrasound procedures according to established protocol to obtain diagnostic information as ordered by a licensed physician or their designated health care provider.
  • provides information to the patient about the purpose of the ultrasound procedure and responds to the patient's questions and concerns.
  • recognizes the patient's individuality and provides quality care in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner using professional and ethical judgment.
  • maintains continued competence through lifelong learning, which includes continuing education, acquisition of specialty specific credentials, and recredentialing.
  • Working in the department of Radiology is required to perform diverse imaging across the spectrum of sonography.

Certification and Licensure
  • BLS Certification
  • American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) (OB or AB and RVT) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) RT(S) and RT(VS)
  • ARDMS OR ARRT (S) if hired as a new graduate, must achieve Vascular Certification within 24 months of graduation
  • ARDMS or ARRT (S) hired as a experienced sonographer with 2 years or more experience must achieve Vascular certification within 12 months of hire
