To thrive as a Tow Truck Operator, you need a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL), mechanical aptitude, and knowledge of safety regulations pertaining to vehicle towing. Familiarity with hydraulic lift systems, tow chains, flatbeds, and GPS dispatch software is commonly required. What is a tow truck driver?

Tow truck drivers are professionals who operate specialized vehicles to move disabled, illegally parked, or impounded vehicles from one location to another. Tow truck drivers typically work for towing companies, roadside assistance services, or law enforcement agencies. Their responsibilities also include securing vehicles safely, completing paperwork, and sometimes providing basic roadside assistance like jump-starts or tire changes.
