Job description

Description Title: Lecturer, CC (Hospitality and Tourism) Position Number: pending Hiring Unit: Hawaii Community College Location: East Hawaii (Hilo), West Hawaii (Kailua-Kona), and/or North Hawaii (Honokaa) Campuses Date Posted: April 10, 2025 Closing Date: Continuous Recruitment Salary Information: Minimum $1,978.00 per credit Temporary/Permanent: Temporary Funding: General Other Conditions: Part-time, non-tenure track, for placement in Spring, Summer and/or Fall lecturer pool, assignments as needed, contingent on availability of funds and actual staffing requirements for East Hawaii (Hilo), West Hawaii (Kailua-Kona), and/or North Hawaii (Honokaa) campuses. Must be able to attend meetings and trainings on short notice as well as teach courses in person, as necessary. Duties and Responsibilities: Under general supervision, conduct lecture and as appropriate, laboratory courses in the discipline

May include instructional assignment involving distance education. Maintain at least one office hour per week for each class taught. Possible evening, weekend and off-campus assignments.

Conduct student evaluations of teaching effectiveness. Participate in assessment of course learning outcomes. Adhere to all due dates, including the online submission of grades.

Minimum Qualifications: (a) Master's degree in hospitality, travel, or tourism; OR (b) MBA and 2 years of relevant work experience in the hospitality & tourism field of which at least 1 year must include industry work experience; OR (c) Bachelor's degree in hospitality, travel, or tourism and 3 years of relevant work experience in the hospitality & tourism field of which at least 2 years must include industry work experience; OR (d) Bachelors' degree in any field and 5 years of relevant work experience in the hospitality & tourism field of which at least 3 years must include industry work experience; OR (e) Associate's degree in hospitality, travel, or tourism and 5 years of relevant work experience in the hospitality & tourism field of which at least 3 years must include industry work experience; OR (f) 15 college credits in hospitality, travel, or tourism and 7 years of relevant work experience in the hospitality & tourism field of which at least 5 years must include industry management or supervisory experience. If qualified applicants are not available, those not meeting minimum qualifications may be considered. Desirable Qualifications: Willingness to work with Running Start and Early College programs and pass required additional screening as necessary.
