Job description

This is a benefited, full-time position generally working Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. Located in La Jolla at Scripps Clinic Torrey Pines. This position requires both front-office and back-office Medical Assistant responsibilities.  You will be required to float to other specialties at the same location as needed.

What you'll do: 

  • Both front office and back office duties
  • Rooming patients, checking vitals, assisting with procedures, specifically injections
  • Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment
  • Organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician's practice
  • Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person
  • Collecting patient data in person and by phone
  • Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
  • Administering medications specifically directed by the physician
  • Scheduling of appointments and procedures
  • Complete and accurate message taking
  • Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
  • Order and referral entry, acquisition of pre-certifications
  • Setting up of cases in EPIC plus basic registration and updating of demographics
  • Float to other specialties as needed
 
Qualifications - External

Requirements:

  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program, or Medical Assistance Certification, or a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman
  • BLS required in clinical setting for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:

  • One year of experience as a MA in an outpatient setting preferred
  • Experience with injections & EKGs
  • Rheumatology experience
