Job description

ABOUT THE TEAM

Our Manufacturing Team is dedicated to rapidly iterating and building cutting-edge drone hardware for operational and testing applications. Our responsibilities span the entire manufacturing value-chain-from design for manufacturability, tooling design and selection, process creation and optimization, to quality planning and comprehensive work documentation.

ABOUT THE JOB

We are looking for a hands-on, proactive Automation & Torque Tooling Technician to join our rapidly growing team in Costa Mesa, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for the physical deployment of next-generation smart torque tooling to new and expanding production lines, supporting everything from autonomous air vehicles to maritime systems. You will ensure our assembly lines are equipped with correctly configured, physically installed, and highly reliable fastening systems. This will require deep technical expertise in smart tooling hardware (such as Atlas Copco, Cleco, or Desoutter), network configuration for tooling controllers, and hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting of assembly line equipment. If you are someone who thrives in a fast-paced hardware environment, possesses a relentless attention to detail, and is excited about building the future of defense technology, then this role is for you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Physically deploy, mount, wire, and integrate Atlas Copco controllers, tool stands, and tooling hardware across production lines
  • Program and configure Atlas Copco Power Focus and MicroTorque systems to exact engineering specifications
  • Diagnose production floor issues, troubleshoot tightening failures, and optimize tightening programs (Psets)
  • Analyze tightening curves and graphs to diagnose torque vs. angle anomalies, cross-threading, and joint relaxation
  • Train manufacturing technicians and operators on the proper handling and safety of smart tools
  • Maintain tooling health and calibration records to ensure continuous reliability and minimize downtime
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2-5+ years of experience in aerospace, automotive, or consumer electronics manufacturing with precision assembly systems
  • Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting Atlas Copco Power Focus controllers and MicroTorque systems
  • Proven experience setting up workstations, routing cables, and physically deploying assembly line hardware
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze a tightening trace and identify failure modes
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, as well as stand, bend, kneel, and work in tight spaces to install hardware
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience using ToolsTalk 2 software
  • Experience with micro-fastening applications for electronics or small electromechanical joints
  • Familiarity with torque-tension relationships (soft vs. hard joints)
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing environment
