Job description

Job Title: Torch Cutter
Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Torch Cutter to operate an oxy‑propane torch for cutting, trimming, or preparing metal materials. You will ensure metals meet size and specification standards, assist with yard operations, and operate heavy equipment. Training is provided for operating machinery. Adherence to safety protocols is crucial, and you will perform physically demanding tasks in an open-air environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate an oxy‑propane torch to cut, trim, or prepare metal materials.
  • Examine and measure metals to ensure they meet required size and specification standards.
  • Assist with general yard operations, including sorting, moving, and staging materials.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as skid steers, front loaders, and CAT machinery.
  • Follow all safety protocols and report any hazards or equipment issues.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks including bending, lifting, and working in various body positions throughout the shift.
Essential Skills
  • Experience using an oxy‑propane torch or similar cutting tools.
  • Previous experience in metal processing, scrap yard operations, or industrial environments.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment (skid steer, front loader, CAT equipment).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Ability to identify different metals.
  • Shop math experience.
  • Heavy equipment troubleshooting.
