Location
Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Department Information
The Kennesaw State University School of Art and Design provides a rigorous education, offering a BFA degree in Art with eleven concentrations, and a BFA degree in Digital Animation. Our 100% online MA in Art and Design features tracks in Art Education, Digital Animation, and Museum Studies.
Our Chastain Pointe facilities provide students with state-of-the-art resources. Chastain Pointe houses four large drawing and painting studios, an expansive printmaking area, and studios for Animation, Foundations, Graphic Communications, Illustration & Comics, Art Education, and Photography & Video. The Emily Bourne Grigsby Galleries support our student exhibitions and the work of Athos Menaboni. The Visual Arts Building has studios for Sculpture, Ceramics, 3D Design, and the Master Craftsman Program. Our Textiles and Surface Design concentration is located on the Marietta campus, with approximately 10,000 square feet of dedicated instructional space.
Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Digital Animation in the School of Art and Design with a preferred start date of August 2026. This is a nine-month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities
  • Teach a range of undergraduate courses in the BFA in Digital Animation program as well as graduate courses in the MA in Art and Design. Use both traditional and digital illustration techniques to provide a broad range of working experiences to our students.
  • Further develop the curriculum within Illustration and Sequential Art.
  • Mentor undergraduate students.
  • Actively engage in creative endeavors, and/or scholarly activities.
  • Participation in usual departmental activities, course development, and to serve on departmental and university committees as assigned.

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications
  • An MFA degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Animation or Illustration, or a terminal degree, or the foreign equivalent, in a related discipline, is required.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suites and in software related to 2D and/or 3D Digital Animation.
  • A strong knowledge and proficiency in 2D and /or 3D animation production, interactivity, design, and technology.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Industry experience and an established record of professional achievement.
  • Teaching experience beyond graduate school.
  • Online teaching experience.
  • Familiarity with industry software such as Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Harmony, including Toon-Boom and Storyboard Pro.
  • 2D and/or 3D animation production, interactivity, design, and technology.
  • Expertise in a secondary area of specialization - such as motion graphics, illustration, sequential art.
