Job description

Drafter & Tool Designer

The Drafter & Tool Designer is responsible for operations within the drafting department, including modeling, tool designing, and drafting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the design and creation of tooling per customer requirements.
  • Create detailed tool design drawings for new products using "Lego" style design systems.
  • Integrate improved/new design and work holding tool technology.
  • Manage and/or maintain master files of sketch drafts to ensure accuracy.
  • Develops 3D models based on customer requirements as needed.
  • Participates in the improvement process by documenting process changes in sketches.
  • Participates in troubleshooting on production/design related problems.
  • Create Manufacturing plans for new products and processes.
  • Propose feasible solutions for future overall tool related process improvements.

Qualifications:

Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be experienced in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and be proficient in use of CAD software

Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities: Must be able to read customer provided drawings. Must be proficient in the use of MRP systems. Knowledgeable in various Manufacturing Processes. Knowledgeable in the Operation of portable measuring equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a shop – office environment.
