Job description

The Tool Rental Service Technician is responsible for the evaluation and repair of small engines, outdoor power equipment and handheld electrical devices. This position makes equipment recommendations and ensures that units are maintained. Tool Rental Service Technicians will also be expected to provide fast and friendly service to store customers both in Tool Rental and throughout the entire store as needed.

In addition to supporting customer repair needs, they are also responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of equipment in the tool rental department. Service Technicians must have a thorough knowledge of all tools and must effectively manage the tool inventory by maintaining the tools and repairing them as necessary. This position also involves ordering parts for repair, using a computer to process transactions, and training Tool Rental Associates on the proper use for tools.

Tool Rental Service Technicians will be expected to assist customers with general tool rental questions, demonstrating the proper use of rental tools and processing transactions. Preferred qualifications include one year Mechanical Repair experience, ability to evaluate and diagnose problems, maintenance & repair of small engines, outdoor power equipment & handheld electrical devices for customers, processing detailed transaction for rental equipment and customer repair, and job related experience in retail, tool rental technicians, mechanics, construction and landscaper.
