Job description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Tool and Die Supervisor to oversee tool and die operations. This role ensures the effective maintenance, repair, and optimization of dies, tools, and related equipment to support high-quality, high-volume production of powertrain components such as engines, transmissions, and driveline parts. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, team leadership, and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of tool and die makers and technicians.
  • Oversee maintenance, repair, and preventive care of stamping dies, molds, and fixtures for powertrain components
  • Ensure all dies and tooling meet tight tolerances required for automotive powertrain applications.
  • Schedule and prioritize toolroom work based on production needs, minimizing downtime.
  • Troubleshoot die and tooling issues in support of production, working closely with engineering and production teams.
  • Train and mentor team members to ensure technical competence and adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Manage inventory of spare die components and tooling supplies.
  • Implement and support continuous improvement projects in die performance, changeover reduction, and tool life optimization.
  • Enforce plant safety and environmental policies and ensure team compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including die maintenance logs, tool changeover records, and performance metrics.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 5–7 years of experience in tool and die
  • Strong understanding of automotive manufacturing processes, particularly in powertrain components (e.g., machining, stamping, die casting)
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, CAD drawings, and using precision measuring tools
  • Familiarity with CNC machines, die setting, and maintenance practices
  • Proven leadership, organizational, and communication skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Tool & Die or related field preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience in supervisory role in tool and die or production/manufacturing environment
  • Certification in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
  • Experience with progressive and transfer dies
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and TPM


Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced manufacturing environment with regular exposure to machining equipment, die presses, and industrial noise.
  • Requires standing, walking, lifting, and handling heavy tools and components
  • Availability to work overtime, weekends, or off-shifts as needed.
