This role sits at the core of Nikkiso's LNG and cryogenic marine operations, bridging shipboard realities with engineering, service execution, and global logistics. The Marine Project Lead ensures that mission-critical cryogenic and turbomachinery systems-cargo pumps, compressors, expanders, and associated LNG systems-are serviced, upgraded, and commissioned with precision, safety, and operational excellence.
The ideal candidate is a technically grounded maritime professional who understands LNG vessel operations and the lifecycle of cryogenic and rotating equipment, and who thrives in high-stakes, multi-stakeholder environments.
Strategic Impact
In this role, you will:
  • Lead the orchestration of LNG vessel service and dry-docking programs across global fleets.
  • Coordinate lifecycle service execution for cryogenic cargo systems and turbomachinery on LNG carriers and gas carriers.
  • Ensure seamless alignment between shipowners, ship managers, shipyards, OEM engineers, and Nikkiso's global service hubs.
  • Elevate Nikkiso's position as a strategic lifecycle partner for LNG cryogenic systems and rotating equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all LNG vessel-related service activities, including dry-docking, onboard repairs, upgrades, commissioning, and troubleshooting of cryogenic cargo systems and turbomachinery.
  • Develop integrated execution plans for LNG carriers, covering cargo pumps, compressors, vaporizers, expanders, and auxiliary rotating equipment.
  • Align ship crews, shipowners, ship managers, shipyards, service engineers, and logistics partners on schedules, roles, and deliverables.

Turbomachinery & Rotating Equipment Coordination
  • Serve as the operational interface between shipboard teams and Nikkiso's engineering and service organizations for turbomachinery and cryogenic equipment.
  • Coordinate technical scopes for rotating equipment maintenance, overhaul, and performance optimization.
  • Ensure technical requirements, safety standards, and OEM procedures are fully integrated into project execution plans.

Global Logistics & Resource Orchestration
  • Coordinate manpower deployment, travel, spares, tooling, and specialized resources across multiple global marine hubs.
  • Manage critical-path logistics for LNG vessel projects, ensuring timely delivery of parts and services across regions and time zones.

Stakeholder & Customer Leadership
  • Act as the primary coordination interface with shipowners and ship managers for LNG vessel project planning and execution.
  • Lead technical and operational communication with customers regarding schedules, risks, and execution strategies.
  • Build trusted relationships with maritime stakeholders and position Nikkiso as a long-term technical partner.

Project Planning, Risk & Performance Management
  • Develop detailed LNG vessel activity schedules, project timelines, and execution roadmaps.
  • Identify risks related to vessel schedules, dry-dock windows, technical scope, and resource constraints, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor project performance against milestones, ensuring on-time and high-quality delivery.

Documentation, Compliance & Governance
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including execution plans, schedules, technical reports, meeting minutes, and activity logs.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, maritime regulations, and Nikkiso operational standards.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports for global marine leadership.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Marine Operations, or Project Management.
  • Experience in LNG carrier operations, cryogenic cargo systems, turbomachinery, or rotating equipment is strongly preferred.
  • Background working with shipowners, ship managers, shipyards, OEMs, or LNG fleet operations is highly desirable.

Technical & Commercial Expertise
  • Strong understanding of LNG cargo systems, cryogenic equipment, and rotating machinery lifecycle.
  • Ability to translate technical scopes into executable marine project plans.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple LNG vessel projects simultaneously in time-critical environments.

Leadership & Execution Capabilities
  • Exceptional coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • High level of operational discipline, planning rigor, and risk awareness.
  • Ability to perform under pressure in safety-critical maritime environments.

Work Environment & Travel
  • Global marine operations environment spanning offices, shipyards, LNG terminals, and vessels.
  • Domestic and international travel up to ~25% (or more depending on fleet activity).
  • Flexible working hours to support global LNG operations across time zones.
