Job description

The role of Lab Technician under the direction of the Lab Manager performs a variety of tests on carbon black samples for the purpose of product performance and integrity as well as maintaining and updating equipment calibration and maintenance.
Essential Functions
  • Completes performance testing in a laboratory environment of:
    • Carbon black samples
    • Carbon black manufacturing equipment
  • Documents results of performance testing to support the following:
    • Standards Testing Program of Industry Standard Reference Blacks
    • TCCB testing protocol to assist with equipment calibration and maintenance scheduling
  • Strictly adheres to all scheduled test programs and documented test processes and procedures ensuring test environment uniformity and result data integrity
  • Routinely reports performance test data to manufacturing departments through an established computer data transmission process
  • Maintains company quality control records
  • Proactively reports anomalies, inconsistencies, or inadequate product results data to supervisors and operational management
  • Ensures quality control per customer orders and specifications through the regular testing process
  • Monitors and reports low inventory, supplies and disposable equipment for timely rectification to support efficiency and continued production
  • Maintains a clean workspace to ensure optimal work performance and safety
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Required Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Ability to read and write documented testing procedures and results
  • Proven record in demonstrating discipline to ensure testing uniformity and result integrity
  • Location specific qualifications may apply including but not limited to:
  • Submission and appropriate scoring on the Wonderlic Personnel Test
  • Submission and appropriate scoring on a computer skills test
  • Satisfactory absence and behavior record

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Associates Degree
  • Five or more years' experience in a laboratory setting within a manufacturing environment
