Position Summary
A laboratory in the Center for Gastrointestinal Biology and Disease is seeking a lab manager and
technician. The research of the laboratory is focused on intestinal stem cells, gastrointestinal cancers, and biomedical engineering/translational approaches to improve human health.
The lab technician/manager will be responsible for over-all administration of lab organization and maintenance. They will also be responsible for performing experimental techniques directed by graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and the Principle Investigator. The technical work includes but is not limited to mouse colony management, genotyping, DNA/RNA/protein analysis by PCR/qPCR/western blotting, plasmid vector design/recombinant DNA engineering, gene expression by Taqman assays, tissue culture, flow cytometry/FACS, and other standard laboratory
practices such as making solutions.
The management work includes but is not limited to ordering supplies/reagents, maintaining databases, maintenance and upkeep of laboratory space, maintaining animal/environmental health and safety protocols, communicating directly with the Principle Investigator and other laboratory personnel.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Management Preferences
CRISPR gene editing experience.
