Summary
Operating Title Assistant Professor, Occupational Therapy (Tenure Track) Long Classification Title Campus Location Durham Department UNH CHHS Occupational Therapy Summary of Position
The Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of New Hampshire invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty, assistant professor position to begin August, 2025. The position has a 9-month academic year appointment. Candidates with a strong foundation in occupational science, and a defined research program that complements existing expertise in the department are encouraged to apply. The Department actively promotes a scholarly, enriching environment in which faculty integrate their research activities with teaching and service. The Department of Occupational Therapy is housed in the College of Health and Human Services within a R1 research, liberal arts, land, sea and space grant institution. UNH provides a dynamic learning environment in which qualified individuals of differing perspectives and cultural backgrounds pursue academic goals with mutual respect and shared inquiry. The Department of Occupational Therapy offers a BS/Graduate tracks, an entry-level MS and OTD track, and plans to offer a BS OTA program. 
A successful candidate for this tenure-track position will conduct and disseminate research in an area that complements and expands existing expertise in the department, will demonstrate a strong commitment to training the next generation of occupational therapists, and will seek external funding to support research.
Responsibilities include:
  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate coursework in OT programs. Teaching load expectation is 4 courses per academic year. Student advising is part of teaching.
  • Scholarship to support a defined program of research with ongoing dissemination.
  • Service activities within the Department, University, community, and occupational therapy profession.

We welcome applications from doctorally prepared candidates with backgrounds in occupational science or therapy or related disciplines including rehabilitation science, gerontology, assistive technology, and neuroscience. Preference is for candidates with clinical or research expertise in the area of adult mental health or geriatric care.
Specific criteria include:
  • PhD or research doctorate in occupational therapy, occupational science or related field. PhD Candidates who anticipate completion of the degree by the position start date are eligible to apply.
  • Defined program of scholarship supported by at least one refereed publication and others in process.
  • For candidates with Occupational Therapy background, a strong occupation-focused philosophy and eligibility for NBCOT certification and NH state OT license
  • Past teaching experience and demonstration of teaching competence
