Job description

Description The 27th Circuit Court is seeking individuals to supervise children and families in the Friend of the Court Supervised Parenting Time Program on a part-time basis. This person provides support to children and families by overseeing parenting time visits when ordered by the court. Selected candidates would be comfortable working directly with families who need assistance with maintaining proper boundaries, behaviors, and redirecting parents or children when appropriate.

Ideal candidates should be proficient with report writing and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. Examples of Duties Adheres to program policies, guidelines, rules, and directives provided by Newaygo County Friend of the Court to maintain safe supervised parenting time visits. Follows Friend of the Court referral process and reviews all case documents as needed to be prepared for each supervised parenting time visit.

Observes family and children during each visit and generates notes or reports from each visit. Maintains confidentiality of all Friend of the Court case information pertaining to each case. Responsible for coordinating supervised parenting time visits and providing orientation paperwork to parents per policy to ensure rules are understood and followed.

Prepares visitation site prior to commencement of visitation sessions to create a supportive environment specific to family needs. Makes decisions based on the best interests and safety of participants and enforces supervised parenting time rules. Responsible for de-escalating situations in which a participant may become upset or emotional.

Prepares reports for each visit or for hearings as directed by Friend of the Court Staff and provides testimony in court as needed. Typical Qualifications Education: Minimum of high school diploma with experience in the social sciences fields preferred. Experience: Degree and/or past work experience in the social sciences preferred.
