Job Summary:

As a key member of the Operations Team, the Billing Specialist partners with advisors, internal teams, and external stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely billing for Mercer Advisors' investment management clients. This role is responsible for maintaining billing integrity, updating billing instructions, processing fees, resolving discrepancies, and supporting efficient revenue recognition processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly billing audits, including fee calculations, account troubleshooting, and adjustment processing
  • Review and maintain client accounts and household structures to ensure accurate fee schedule assignments
  • Partner with advisors and internal stakeholders to update and maintain billing instructions, ensuring alignment with client agreements
  • Reconcile direct debit results and ensure timely and accurate fee collection
  • Respond to billing-related inquiries from advisors and Client Service teams in a timely and professional manner
  • Partner with Trading and Client Service teams to ensure sufficient account liquidity for billing debits
  • Proactively track, manage, and follow up on outstanding, failed, or rejected fee transactions
  • Investigate root causes of failed collections and coordinate resolution
  • Partner with advisors, Client Service, and Trading teams to facilitate collections, including funding accounts, re-processing fees, or updating client billing setups
  • Maintain detailed records of collection efforts and outstanding balances; provide regular reporting on aged receivables and collection status
  • Identify trends in collection issues and recommend process improvements to reduce failed or delayed billing

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Understanding of portfolio accounting and client performance reporting concepts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Experience working with integrated financial systems and billing platforms
  • Experience with Orion strongly preferred
  • Experience with Salesforce strongly preferred
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with advisors and cross-functional teams

Location: This is a remote position with a strong preference for candidates in the Mountain or Pacific Time Zones.

Working Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Working Conditions: Professional office environment. Working inside. Standing and sitting. Will be assigned to a workstation. No heavy lifting over 10 lbs.

Actual base pay within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the applicant's geographic location, relevant experience, education, skills and licenses/certifications. This position is also eligible to earn incentive compensation through one of Mercer Advisors' incentive compensation programs.
