POSITION SUMMARY:
The Project Engineer assists the Project Manager/ Executive by tracking and maintaining records that are associated with submittals, costs, deliveries and payroll at the job site. The Project Engineer is also responsible for tracking and maintaining all safety communications, manuals and records.


Safety:
โ€ข Prepare and give weekly Toolbox Talks, Daily Safety Huddles and maintain records.
โ€ข Maintain a file for One Call Center requests to ensure no utilities are damaged during construction activities.
โ€ข Maintain a retrievable filing system for the Hazardous Communication Program - MSDS.
โ€ข Maintain the Project Safety Manual, make periodic jobsite safety inspections and record/file all findings.
โ€ข Maintain records of site safety inspections and track all injuries that occurred on the project.

Payments:
โ€ข Perform daily quantity review with Superintendent and Job Foreman.
โ€ข Enter daily quantities into system and file daily sheets.
โ€ข Track completion of work on project plans.
โ€ข Perform monthly review of estimates with job Superintendent/ Project Manager.
โ€ข Maintain a file, tracking all extra work.
โ€ข Notify Project Manager or Division Manager of anticipated overruns/underruns.
โ€ข Submit monthly estimated with subcontractor payment sheets to Accounting upon approval from the owner.
โ€ข Request a copy of Final Estimate with each monthly estimate and send to Area Manager โ€“ State DOT projects only.
โ€ข Review and approve material and supplier invoices for the project on a regular basis.

Daily Logs:
โ€ข Maintain general correspondence file with correspondence log.
โ€ข Maintain Shop Drawing Log.
โ€ข Maintain Subcontractor Daily Log.
โ€ข Maintain Delivery Log.
โ€ข Accurately track asphalt and other major materials that are delivered verses the quantity paid.
โ€ข Develop and update Submittal Log.

Certified Payroll, EEO, Trainee Reports:
โ€ข Enter daily payroll information by specific task and assist in productivity tracking.
โ€ข Track all subcontractors that worked on the project for the month utilizing the Subcontractor Daily Log.
โ€ข Submit copes of the Sub. Log to Payroll monthly and notify Area Managers of delays.

Miscellaneous:
โ€ข Maintain job records.
โ€ข Track job codes using Phase Code System.
โ€ข Maintain the Request for Information (RFI) to the owner.
โ€ข Assist in purchase of job materials to ensure the proper quantities are delivered.
โ€ข Review project plans and assist in ensuring work is completed properly.
โ€ข Develop project look-ahead schedules.
โ€ข Review project specifications and prepare/track submittal packages accordingly.
โ€ข Review subcontractor submittal packages for accuracy.


โ€ข B.S. Degree in Engineering with 2+ years of related experience.
โ€ข Experience in Heavy Construction (site-work, roads or environmental).
โ€ข Must be capable of meeting deadlines, self-motivated, detail oriented, excellent interpersonal skills and have excellent follow-through capability.

โ€ข Weekend/Nighttime work as required by the project. 
โ€ข Verbal and written communication skills are essential to this position.
โ€ข Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment; able to accurately process written documents, perform duties in a timely manner, be highly organized and able to interface; communicate effectively with company, clients and field personnel at all levels.

Compensation: $82,500 to $125,000 annually
