Job description

Summary:

SmartLam has an exciting opportunity for a Raw Materials Coordinator. The Raw Materials Coordinator will order lumber for multiple mills based on the Sales and Operation Planner forecasting model, manage inventory, provide vendor quality reports, and works side by side with our Production Coordinators at multiple mill locations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collects and analyzes data on current order forecasts to estimate future demand for materials.
  • Orders raw materials.
  • Follows up on all orders.
  • Very detailed.
  • Great personality to deal with vendors.
  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment.
  • Ability to work with vendors on project material and supply and establish programs for growth objectives.
  • Responsible for maintaining on site overview of lumber inventory and Demand Plans with projects.
  • Work with SmartLam team to develop long term Fibre sourcing strategy with our vendors for all mass timber products.
  • Manage Daily Purchase Orders with Vendors and update tally’s for Receiving.
  • Ability to work with vendors on status updates of inbound material to inform Production of availability and logistic constraints.
  • Work with Sales/Production planning and corporate department on establishing a project demand plan and visibility for our executive team.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Familiar with rapid work pace.
  • Must have at least two years of relevant experience
  • Prefer working knowledge of lumber and business math.
  • Prefer working knowledge of lumber and grade rules.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in managing multiple tasks, setting priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail orientated and follows up on commitments.
  • Excellent negotiating and relationship skills.
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic.
  • Works well with little supervision.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and ability to learn other software with ease.
