Job description

Laface Flooring LLC is seeking an experienced Tile Installation Technician to join our team. An installation technician is responsible for physically preparing and installing a variety of materials including but not limited to wood, tile, granite, LVT, and marble to floors, walls, ceilings and roof decks. The installation technician is responsible for keeping the foreman appraised of a job’s status on a daily basis.

Requirements

  • Verify all necessary materials, tools, and equipment are prepared for each job and are out for delivery in a timely manner.
  • Determine and implement layout of materials to achieve the customer’s desired pattern.
  • Remove old materials, including tile, grout, and other adhesives.
  • Cut and shape materials to fit layout specifications, including corners, angles, and around objects.
  • Mix and apply plaster, mortar, concrete, glue, or other adhesives to form a bed for other materials.
  • Application of materials (including but not limited to wood, tile, granite, LVT, and marble to floors, walls, ceilings and roof decks).
  • Aligning and straightening tile
  • Taking daily pictures of the job progress for the foreman and provide estimate of remaining scope of the job.

Supervisory Responsibilities: The position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Qualification Standards:

• Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate driver’s license prior to employment.

• Five-year combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.

• Successful completion of a 10 hour OSHA safety course.

• Willingness and ability to perform manual work following verbal and written instructions.

• Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in the building trades.

• Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.

• Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.

• Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.

• Ability to communicate orally and in writing Page 1 of 3 Installation Technician • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.

• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.

• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.

Special Requirements:

Regular, physical on-site attendance is required.

Equipment, Machines and Software Used: This position requires the regular use of levels, squares, straight edge(s), tiles, wire brush, scrapers, trowel, screed, a hand cart/dolly, knife/box cutter, shop vac, power tools, hand tools, fork lift, pallet jack, tooling/grinding wheel.

Safety Equipment: Safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, hard hat, gloves. Mental and Visual Demand: Close mental and visual attention to perform precision manual work, machine operations, set-ups, inspections and adjustments that require frequent decisions to adjust for variance from proper operation.

Physical Demand: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, perform repetitive hand motion, finger, grasp, handle, feel, push, pull, reach, crouch, kneel, crawl, bend, climb and/or balance, shovel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move over 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds.

Benefits

Hourly Pay Range: $30.00 - $35.00 Depending on Experience
