What does a tile project manager do?

A Tile Project Manager oversees the planning, execution, and completion of tile installation projects in residential or commercial settings. They coordinate between clients, suppliers, and installation teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to quality standards. Responsibilities include scheduling, budgeting, site inspections, resolving issues, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential for this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a tile project manager?

To thrive as a Tile Project Manager, you need expertise in construction management, tile installation techniques, budgeting, and scheduling, usually supported by a relevant degree or significant industry experience. Familiarity with project management software (like Procore or Buildertrend), blueprint reading, and knowledge of safety regulations are typically required. Leadership, attention to detail, and effective communication skills set outstanding managers apart in coordinating teams and liaising with clients. These skills ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while maintaining client satisfaction.

Effective communication, attention to detail, and proactive problem-solving are essential to keep projects on track and maintain quality standards. Additionally, balancing client expectations with budget constraints is a frequent aspect of the role, requiring strong negotiation and planning skills.

  • Long-term career opportunity with an experienced and supportive team
  • In-house architectural design, estimating, selection, and production resources

  • Maintain timely, proactive communication with clients throughout construction.
  • Support field staff and help resolve project issues efficiently and professionally.
  • Coordinate material ordering, warehouse delivery acceptance, and inventory management.
  • Obtain competitive bids and negotiate pricing to reduce cost of goods sold while maintaining quality.
  • Manage invoice collection according to project milestones and company procedures.
  • Coordinate completion of punch list items and project closeout.
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training employees and subcontractors to meet company standards.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of Production Department policies, procedures, and systems.

Experience and Qualifications

Preferred
  • College coursework, trade school, or construction-related training
  • Residential remodeling project management experience
  • Experience with project scheduling or construction management software

Compensation

Starting salary will be based on relevant experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability to manage residential remodeling projects.
