Job Description
The Line Leader will have overall ownership of a manufacturing line and/or process, being fully responsible for delivering all targets and OEE goals for that specific line. This role is crucial in ensuring efficient production processes, maintaining safety standards, and fostering continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment. It requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and effective communication. Regular and punctual attendance is essential. The candidate must be able to read, write, and converse in English, and be willing to uphold BD Values. Additionally, the Line Leader ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures, best practices, and all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operational Leadership: Drive key performance metrics in Safety, Quality, and Delivery while spending approximately 65% of your time on the production floor actively overseeing operations.
  • Team Development: Conduct daily touchpoints with line associates to mentor and develop their capabilities, fostering an Equipment Owner (EO) mentality through coaching on safety protocols, AM defect tagging, 5S methodology, and breakdown response.
  • Performance Optimization: Analyze production losses, establish clear line priorities, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that align with manufacturing unit goals.
  • Proactive Problem-Solving: Anticipate potential issues by assessing trends and implementing preventive measures before they impact production.
  • Communication Excellence: Prepare and lead Tier 1 production meetings, ensuring alignment across the entire Line Centric Organization (LCO) team while effectively communicating results and raising issues to leadership.

Daily Operations Management:
  • Review and adapt production plans to meet changing requirements
  • Plan and coordinate daily Pit Stops while maintaining updated targets on the Primary Visual Display (PVD)
  • Ensure proper resource allocation to address quality or line issues as they arise
  • Lead timely root cause analysis and implementation of appropriate corrective actions
  • Support eDHR implementation and documentation excellence

Continuous Improvement:
  • Drive the creation and refinement of work instructions, standards, centerlines, and CILTs to enhance operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with the PM team to optimize preventive maintenance execution

Leadership Approach:
As a Line Leader, you'll embody servant leadership principles and demonstrate our company values while supporting your team. Your ability to build capabilities in others while maintaining operational excellence will be key to success in this role.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma and 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment (automated environment preferred)
  • Professional Certification (i.e. Leadership Training, College Coursework)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • BA/BS and 3 years of manufacturing experience in an automated environment
  • MA/MS and 1 year of manufacturing experience in an automated environment
  • 1 year of people leadership experience preferred.
