Position Overview:

The Associate Designer will coordinate, under the direction of the Designer, the execution of garments in the Johnny Was line. They will also collaborate with cross - functional teams such as sewing and patternmaking to ensure completion of line.

Examples of Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sourcing new China and Domestic fabrics
  • Testing prints/embroidery
  • Ordering fabrics/ buttons/zippers/trims
  • Updating boards with body/fabric info
  • Tracking DUPs packing list, samples/swatches/protos packing list, ETAS and prices of DUPS
  • Creating line sheets (including drops, getting pricing)
  • Sending lab dips; tie dye developments to overseas factories
  • Develop spreadsheets for sample line (dups) in Excel and InDesign:
  • Colors
  • Dye house
  • ship and receive
  • Meetings with Head Designer, Design Director and team throughout development and duplicate stages.
  • Splitting for dye house
  • Arrange sample line (dups) and send to showrooms.
  • Package all info for China
  • Enter style information in ERP system (RLM)
  • Other duties as assigned.

Accountability:

  • This position is accountable for the efficient follow through on the entire design process from taking direction from head designer, working closely and guiding sewer on garment sewing details and finishing of the garments as well as working closely with patternmakers to ensure garment is made correctly and in a timely manner.
