Job description

Recognized as the No. 1 site trusted by real estate professionals, Realtor.com® has been at the forefront of online real estate for over 25 years, connecting buyers, sellers, and renters with trusted insights and expert guidance to find their perfect home. Through its robust suite of tools, Realtor.com® not only makes a significant impact on the real estate industry at large, but for consumers, navigating the biggest purchase they will make in their life, by providing a user experience that is easy to use, easy to understand, and most of all, easy to make decisions.
Join us on our mission to empower more people to find their way home by breaking barriers to entry, making the right connections, and building confidence through expert guidance.
At Realtor, our technology team participates in the research and development of scalable applications, identifying new technologies and trends to enhance our products and business. We build innovative solutions to help customers in their buying, renting, and selling journeys by connecting them with real estate agents and partners. We provide real estate agents and teams with best-in-class tools to manage their listings and grow their businesses. Join us to push the boundaries of what's possible and learn from world-class talent that promotes a culture of experimentation and learning.
We believe in leveraging the best tools to solve problems faster. You will be expected to utilize AI coding assistants and LLMs proficiently to accelerate development velocity, generate boilerplate, and troubleshoot complex debugging scenarios. Beyond simple usage, this role requires critical judgment to verify AI-generated outputs for security, performance, and accuracy. You should be comfortable integrating AI tooling into your daily workflow to eliminate repetitive tasks, allowing you to focus on high-impact architectural and strategic engineering challenges.
We are hiring Software Engineers to join our team.
Three reasons to apply:
  • Your code will matter on day one - You won't be working on side projects or throwaway features. Your work will ship to products used by real estate agents and consumers across the country.
  • You'll level up fast with real mentorship - You'll learn from Staff and Senior Engineers who care about clean code, thoughtful design, and helping you grow - not just closing tickets.
  • You'll build real systems, not just features - From APIs and backend services to dashboards and lead delivery systems, you'll work on modern, scalable technology that solves real business problems.

Potential Teams you will get to work on:
  • Seller Services - Build the core systems that help real estate agents do their daily work. You'll contribute to agent dashboards, lead delivery, and tools that help agents manage listings, clients, and grow their business - all with support from experienced engineers.
  • Branding & Promotions - Help build products that allow agents to promote their listings and reach more sellers. You'll work on customer-facing features, backend services, and experiments around pricing and packaging that directly support revenue and customer success.
  • Lead Services creates technology that helps people connect with real estate professionals as they search for a home. As a junior engineer, you'll work on features that improve how customers are matched with the right partners, helping drive business goals while learning and growing your technical skills.
  • Agent Branding - Build systems to help agents differentiate themselves from the crowd. You'll contribute to portals that allow our clients to configure their brand, report on their branding performance, and provide insights on how to improve their branding presence. Additionally, you will contribute to the systems that expose our clients' brand across realtor.com.
  • The Online Store - Digital storefront designed to provide customers with a seamless, high-performance shopping experience. This platform will enable agents and brokers to self-serve by reviewing product offerings and making purchases to promote their brands and listings. You will lead the development of this experience, architecting a scalable platform built to sustain rapid platform growth.
  • Performance and Insights - Build visual dashboards that expose performance metrics to our clients, helping them understand how their agents and products are performing. Use data science and analytics to provide insights to agents about how to optimize their leads and improve their market performance. Create conversational agents that help brokers understand how to take action on the data they see.
  • RMN Team - Help build a next-generation platform designed to transform how real estate professionals and home buyers collaborate. You'll contribute to net-new product capabilities, intelligent workflow tools, and scalable backend services that empower agents to operate more efficiently. It's a high-impact initiative where you'll work alongside senior technical talent to architect modern, cloud-native systems for strategic growth.
  • Content & Industry Services - We are the Foundation. Content and Industry Services is the lifeblood of our business that owns and operates the platforms and data pipelines that power the core foundation for all critical consumer, client, and industry experiences across the Realtor.com ecosystem. Content is a core differentiator for our business, and this organization is responsible for ingesting and normalizing over 1,800 critical data integrations that drive operational workflows and product surfaces across the company.

What You'll Do:
  • Participate in system architecture and design review
  • Develop solutions that are of high quality, scalable, and reliable
  • Work collaboratively in squads composed of Product Managers, Designers, Analysts, and Engineers.
  • Investigate and prototype technologies that can be leveraged to introduce innovations
  • Be self-directed, take initiative, and drive towards solutions with guidance

What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in software development
  • Experience in software development and a strong willingness to learn our technology stack, including: Python (FastAPI, Pydantic, NumPy, Pandas), React, Node.js, Next.js, Nestjs, PostgreSQL, GraphQL.
  • Experience working with relational or non-relational databases.
  • Experience with AI, Machine Learning, and AWS knowledge preferred
  • Experience delivering high value to customers quickly and frequently, with regular feedback and support
  • Experience evaluating trade-offs between design approaches
  • Software engineering best practices (e.g., testing, code reviews, documentation).
  • Experience in developing scalable systems

How We Work:
We balance creativity and innovation on a foundation of in-person collaboration. Our employees work three days in our Austin headquarters, where they have the opportunity to collaborate in-person, adding richness to our culture and knitting us closer together.
