Job Title: Quality Control Inspector
Job Description
This role focuses on performing precise quality control inspections on parts for compressors, valves, and a wide range of rotating equipment in a large, modern service and repair shop. The Quality Control Inspector verifies that all components meet exact dimensional and documentation requirements by reading blueprints, using precision measuring tools, and completing detailed inspection records in the computer system.
Responsibilities
- Perform quality control inspections on parts for compressors, valves, and various types of rotating equipment received from customers.
- Read and interpret engineering blueprints and technical drawings to understand dimensional and tolerance requirements.
- Use precision measuring equipment such as micrometers and calipers to measure internal diameters (ID), outside diameters (OD), bores, threads, and lengths of parts down to tenths of thousandths of an inch.
- Conduct dimensional inspections and visual inspections to verify that parts meet quality and specification standards.
- Upload drawings into the computer system and maintain accurate inspection documentation and records.
- Apply quality assurance and QC testing practices to ensure consistent and reliable inspection results.
- Work closely with machinists, mechanics, and other shop personnel to address nonconformances and clarify specifications.
- Support inspection activities in a rotating equipment shop environment, including compressors and related components.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment by sharing information, assisting coworkers, and participating in problem-solving.
- Follow all safety requirements and use appropriate personal protective equipment while working on the shop floor.
Essential Skills
- At least 5 years of experience in quality control or quality inspection.
- Proficiency using micrometers and calipers for precise dimensional measurements.
- Ability to accurately measure ID and OD bores, threads, and lengths of parts.
- Strong experience reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Hands-on experience performing dimensional inspection and visual inspection.
- Previous experience working in a rotating equipment shop or similar environment.
- General quality assurance and QC testing experience in a manufacturing or repair setting.
- Basic computer skills for uploading drawings and completing documentation.
- Familiarity with machining processes and working around machine shop equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with compressors and rotating equipment inspection.
- Experience working in a machine shop, manufacturing, or fabrication environment.
- Ability to identify different metals and materials used in components.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel for basic data entry or tracking.
- Exposure to inspection of components from major compressor brands.
- Strong teamwork mindset and willingness to work closely with others rather than independently.

Work Environment
The role is based in a brand-new, state-of-the-art, air-conditioned shop that is large, clean, and highly organized. The facility includes a mix of manual machinists, CNC machinists, mechanics, material handlers, and quality control professionals, fostering a supportive, team-oriented atmosphere rather than solitary work. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with 10-hour shifts and Saturday work added during busy periods. The environment emphasizes safety, requiring steel-toe footwear, jeans, a work shirt, and safety glasses while on the shop floor.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
