Therapeutic Recreation Aide

Position Summary:

The Therapeutic Recreation Aide supports the Therapeutic Recreation Director by delivering daily therapeutic programming that aligns with each resident’s individualized plan of care and enhances their overall quality of life. This role facilitates group and one-on-one activities tailored to residents’ interests, abilities, and psychosocial needs, encourages engagement, and builds positive relationships with residents and families. The Aide maintains activity calendars, adjusts schedules based on census changes, and assists with transporting and supporting residents during in-facility and off-site events while helping volunteers contribute meaningful programming. Responsibilities also include documenting participation and progress, contributing to care coordination, and ensuring adherence to HIPAA, infection control standards, safety protocols, and QAPI requirements all in support of residents’ rights and well-being.

Qualifications:

· Passion for Senior Care: Demonstrates a genuine desire to work with seniors, including those with illnesses and disabilities, while advocating for their well-being.

· Relationship Building: Strong ability to connect with residents, families, and staff through empathy, compassion, and active listening.

· Preferred Experience: Background in healthcare settings, such as skilled nursing or assisted living, is beneficial.

· Key Competencies: Skilled in multitasking, adapting to change, working in diverse and fast-paced environments, and communicating clearly in English.
