Job description

The Theater Support Technician supports the technical and operational needs of school theater productions and events across middle and upper school campuses. The role assists with assemblies, performing arts events, set and prop construction, costuming, and venue maintenance. This position requires strong carpentry skills, a solid understanding of technical theater practices, and a commitment to safety. This is a seasonal role that does not offer employer-sponsored benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Theatre Facilities Technical Director, as assigned, in all tasks and school events, including but not limited to: assemblies for middle and upper schools; performing arts events; set construction; maintenance of all performing arts venues on both campuses.
  • Serve as a carpenter for all theatre productions.
  • Help maintain woodshops on middle and upper school campuses and ensure that all personnel (students and teachers) are using the tools properly and safely.
  • Help with prop construction for theatre productions.
  • Help with costuming for theatre productions.
  • Demonstrate collegial interaction with rental clients and directors of school-sponsored auditorium events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Technical Theater or related field preferred. Students currently working on a degree in technical theatre or a related field will also be considered.
  • Extensive set building and painting knowledge.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
  • Be able to travel between school campuses.
