As an Assistant Production Manager, you will support landscape construction operations by helping coordinate crews, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and schedules to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on time, and according to company standards. This role is designed for an emerging leader who is eager to learn all aspects of landscape installation operations and develop the leadership, operational, and project management skills needed to grow into a Production Manager role. Working closely with the Production Manager, Project Manager, and field teams, you will gain hands-on experience in production planning, team leadership, safety, quality control, and customer service while contributing to the successful execution of commercial landscape installation projects.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist with overseeing daily production activities to help ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to company quality standards
  • Help create and maintain a safe working environment for employees and subcontractors by supporting safety initiatives, tracking training and safety documentation, and reinforcing company safety standards
  • Participate in pre-job meetings and assist with project startup, scheduling, site logistics, field communication, punch list completion, and closeout activities
  • Assist with scheduling, daily time entry, field reporting, and labor coordination to support efficient production operations
  • Coordinate equipment rentals, fleet utilization, purchase orders, and invoice processing to support operational efficiency and cost control
  • Assist in coordinating labor, materials, plant deliveries, vendors, and subcontractors to maintain project schedules and operational continuity
  • Support subcontractor and vendor management by soliciting quotes, assisting with subcontract preparation, processing invoices, and maintaining positive working relationships
  • Support change order management, project schedules, submittals, and operational documentation by maintaining accurate records, drawings, logs, and project updates
  • Collaborate with Production Managers, Project Managers, Purchasers, and field teams to support project planning, execution, communication, and customer service
  • Participate in training, mentorship, and development opportunities to build the operational, technical, and leadership skills necessary to grow into a Production Manager role

Qualifications:
  • Safety first mindset with a commitment to enforcing safety regulations and promoting safe work practices
  • Basic understanding of landscape installation, construction practices, equipment operations, or field operations preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and project documents preferred
  • Ability to accomplish multiple tasks while maintaining productivity, organization, accuracy, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt quickly and support day-to-day operational decision-making
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with field teams, vendors, subcontractors, customers, and internal staff
  • Highly organized with strong time management, planning, and prioritization skills
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with co-workers, vendors, subcontractors, and customers through professionalism and responsiveness
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, initiative, and ability to project a professional image in all interactions
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record over the past three years (required)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook; experience with construction or project management software is a plus
